Snooki denied trademark because of cartoon cat

The claws could come out now that Snooki was denied a trademark on her name because of a cartoon cat.
According to The Smoking Gun, pouf-haired “Jersey Shore” star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi wanted to trademark her now infamous nickname for use on books, but government officials rejected her application to avoid any confusion with Snooky, the feline star of the already trademarked 2004 children’s book “Adventures of Snooky.”

The two do seem to have a love of water in common. While Snooki spends her time making a splash with her pals in Miami Beach and at the "Jersey Shore," Snooky goes on an undersea adventure and makes new friends after getting knocked overboard on a family fishing trip.

Despite the minor setback, Snooki, 22, could still reclaim her name. According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the MTV star – who was allowed a trademark for entertainment and public appearance purposes – “may respond to the refusal by submitting evidence and arguments in support of registration.”
